The high-performance HP 1/10Gb Ethernet BL-c Switch is a simple to manage interconnect that provides sixteen 1 Gb downlinks and four 1 Gb uplinks, along with three 10 Gb uplinks and a single 10 Gb cross-connect. A robust set of industry standard Layer 2 switching and Layer 3 routing functions, QOS metering, security and high availability (HA) features round out this extremely flexible and versatile switch. Network designers have the flexibility of using either copper CX4 or Fiber XFP interfaces to match their 10 Gb data center requirements, while datacenter managers will appreciate the stingy 50 Watts of power consumed per switch. The 1:10Gb Ethernet BL-c Switch dramatically reduces cabling, power and cooling requirements compared to stand-alone switches, while providing over 34 Gb of uplink bandwidth to handle the most demanding applications.

1Gb/s downlink connections to server NIC's , and up to 28Gb/s total uplink bandwidth provides non-blocking bandwidth to datacenter networks. High availability features such as NIC teaming, trunk failover, and dual redundant Virtual Connect Ethernet Modules assure maximum uptime. Standards based data center connectivity such as port based VLAN's, VLAN tagging, and uplink port aggregation are built in. Virtual Connect server profiles are shared and continually updated between high availability pairs, and within a shared Virtual Domain of stacked enclosures.
Security and management.
No extra software to purchase, the embedded Virtual Connect Manager runs on each Virtual Connect Ethernet Module. You can define available LANs, server connections, and manage server connection profiles. Role based privileges for 'Administrator' account defined by default and can be modified by the BladeSystem administrator. Additional role based privileges for user accounts can be created by domain, server, networking, and storage.
